UK rapper Little Simz has just dropped the beautiful video clip for her single ‘Gratitude’, the fifth track on her debut album A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons, which features and was produced by London soul/electronica four-piece The Hics.

Filmed on location in the the stunning Cape Town sunshine, the clip has a serious thread running through it, with the inclusion of footage and photographs of student protests that were occurring in the city during the time of filming.

Little Simz says that the experience of meeting people fighting for change in South Africa had a deep and moving effect on her.

“It’s mad because I feel like I’ve grown up a lot in a weekend, because of what I’ve seen,” she says. “I want my friends to go, I want them to be awakened. It’s not enough for me to come back and share my story. I’m so happy I went at this particular moment in my life. I needed to see what I saw, and I needed to meet the people I met.”
