Two greats have united as one. Footage has just emerged of Prince covering David Bowie‘s ‘Heroes’ as a tribute during, what would be, his final performance. Yes, we got shivers too. During the Toronto leg of his ‘Piano and A Microphone’ tour, on March 25, Prince begun his rendition to the cheers of a crowd in awe. “I, I wish could swim” he crooned underneath dimmed lighting and kaleidoscope projections.
Since Prince’s own passing, this footage delivers an entirely new meaning. There’s something so final, so absolute, and yet so reassuring when Prince proclaims “we can be heroes again and again and again”. Two legends, two heroes, again and again. This will truly make your day. Watch the stunning rendition, as well as Bowie’s original, both in the gallery above.
