The announcement of Young Thug‘s highly anticipated debut album the Carter VI was enough to turn heads with the album’s title conflicting with that of Lil Wayne’s career spanning Carter series and leaving many questioning it’s legitimacy. But it turns out Thugger isn’t messing around. Earlier today, the Atlanta trap-star Instagrammed what appears to be the albums cover, alongside the caption ‘4/17’, which means the album will arrive 9 days from now.

As Thugger mentioned in a recent interview with MTV, choosing the Carter VI as the title of his album, well-aware of it’s significance in hip-hop, wasn’t as a diss to Wayne, who revealed the Carter 5 would be the last addition to the Carter saga, but more about paying homage and continuing his legacy. “Carter VI to X, [Wayne] did one to five, I’m gonna do six to 10,” he said.

For the minute, ‘Check’ is the only official single off the album to be released so far, with no tracklist or features yet announced.
