It’s no secret that BWGH draw inspiration for their collections from sources far more diverse than the limited scope of the fashion world. When we spoke with label founder David Obadia for our After Dark issue he was quick to reference fine art as one of the label’s primary inspirations. So it comes as no surprise that BWGH’s debut collaboration with Puma owes as much to the gallery as it does to the running track. After unveiling their   sneaker silhouette in a short film, we get to take a closer a look at the shoe.

The ‘Bluefields’ pack is inspired by the colour field works of abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko. In tonal blue variations the take on Puma’s R698 model is a contemporary classic, there’s also a nod to BWGH’s own design sense with the bouclé knit patches and mottled fabric laces that are signature details across much of their range. The release of the shoe is also complimented with a limited run bluefield skateboard and backpack.  The whole collection drops online via the BWGH site on Dec 6th, and selected pieces will find their into Super Glue stores from the 7th. If you’re Australian and hoping to get your hand on these, this is one release I wouldn’t sleep on – as they’re sure to disappear from shelves as soon as they land.
