Anticipation about the Converse × Maison Martin Margiela has been building for some time now, with an initial teaser video, followed by a quick glimpse of the shoes, but today we can finally reveal full details of the range. Consisting of a Chuck Taylor All Star and a Jack Purcell silhouette, each shoe has been entirely coated in white paint – a signature of the Margiela label. While the resulting shoe is an all white model, the paint application is designed to fade and flake with wear – revealing the iconic Converse upper underneath. The unpredictable nature of natural wear ensures that each pair will age in a individual manner, creating an interface between the two labels that’s completely unique.
Each model will be available in three colourways – a red, a black, and a navy – all lined with premium off-white leather. Retailing at $300aud the collaboration will launch globally through Margiela stores this September – but if you’re in Australia and keen to get your hands on a pair, Up There Store in Melbourne will have very limited stock from September 21st.
