Footnotes is a weekly wrap-up of everything that’s happening in the world of sneakers. It’s your cheat sheet to the latest news like new drops, collabs, sales, store openings, and anything else related to what you put on your feet.

01. Dame Dash’s Sneaker collection selling on eBay

Co founder of Rock-A-Fella records Damon “Dame” Dash is selling his nostalgia inducing sneaker collection on eBay as we speak. Featuring several hundred sneakers the collection is guaranteed to make OG sneakerheads swoon. More than a handful of grails litter the pack including Air Force 1’s with the original ’82 deubre, Supreme’s collaborative SB dunk, and 2004’s hyped Rock-A-Fella Air Force 1 edition which is said to be making a comeback in the not so distant future. The collection prominently harks back to the late ’90s and early ’00s so unsurprisingly some OG 95s and 97s are up for grabs if the new age influx of the classic silhouettes fail to resonate with you. There is a catch however, if you’re not between a US 9.5 or 10.5 this may be a case of stocking rather than rocking. Head over to Shoezeum’s eBay shop to check it out today.

02. Gucci's newest sneaker silhouette

Gucci is set to join the high-fashion ugly sneaker clique with the latest addition to their lux sneaker line-up. Featuring Gucci’s signature graphic logo and typography, this made-in-Italy sneaker boasts an elevated rubber sole unit with leather upper, lace closure, and leather lining. A far more stripped back edition was first spotted in the brands Cruise 2018 collection, most notably lacking the loud branding of the final silhouette—a welcome addition for Gucci lovers the world over. The sneaker is set to retail at $820 USD which should come as no surprise and is due to release from select retailers in the coming weeks.

03. Nike Air Max 1 OG University Red

In celebration of the Air Max 1’s thirtieth anniversary this year we’re set to see the return of the much adored OG University Red model. Paying a carbon copy homage to the original this release will feature a mesh and nubuck upper, which proudly sits atop the classic white midsole coupled with the visible air unit. Nike Air branding is also embroidered on the back with University Red accents running throughout. These were an instant hit and got snapped up immediately after they dropped so you best head for resale sites if you’re still hoping to cop.

04. Travis Scott customisable Air Force 1

Nike continues to push forward the customisable sneaker trend with a possible collaboration with Travis Scott featuring the Air Force 1. The Nike Gakou Flyknit previously boarded the same DIY train, however with La Flame subscribing to the theme himself we could be set to see it hit the mainstream. During a performance at the recent Nike NBA launch in LA the rapper fuelled rumours of an upcoming signature collab. The aptly titled ‘Cactus Jack’ was given a proper world debut via Travis Scott’s twitter. The sneaker looks to feature a beige like cream canvas accompanied by spare parts. What seem to be magnetised interchangeable metallic silver and tortoiseshell swooshes, are set to combine with a white midsole and gum outsole as well as reflective piping. Whilst little is known about this collaboration it leaves the door open for hope that it comes to fruition.

05. Converse NBA Chuck Taylor All Star Collection

In 1949, virtually every player in the NBA wore the iconic Converse Chuck Taylor all star sneaker. After sometime had passed Converse signed the creator of the free-throw line dunk Julius “Dr J” Erving in doing so cementing the brands place in basketball history. On September 29 Converse are set to launch the NBA Chuck Taylor All Star Collection giving die hard fans a way to show their pride and celebrate their favourite teams. Representing all 30 teams the collection will pay tribute to the game in three different design tiers: Gameday, Legend, and Franchise. The Chuck 70 NBA Gameday includes 250 limited edition pairs for each of the NBA teams individually labelled 1-250 all backed by a supple leather lining. The Chuck SE NBA franchise is a celebration of city pride. Featuring 6 NBA teams, the sneaker will have logos embroidered on the tongue, a mesh upper with the team’s name and jersey inspired details, while each sole is moulded to display the given team’s city influence. Head over to select Footlocker retailers as well as Converse stores and online if you’re looking to cop.
