Footnotes is a weekly wrap-up of everything that’s happening in the world of sneakers. It’s your cheat sheet to the latest news like new drops, collabs, sales, store openings, and anything else related to what you put on your feet.

01. Adidas ClimaCool 02/17

Adidas’s latest model, the ClimaCool 02/17, pairs the original ClimaCool 1 style with modern elements and a super clean colourway. The shoe features a large perforation slip-on upper and a ventilated sole which provides top-notch breathability. The white colourway with red, black and grey accents adds a fresh touch to the old school style and is available to purchase from Subtype and selected Adidas retailers from today.

02. Nike Air Max 97 Ultra

Easily Nike’s most comfortable Air Max 97, the Air Max 97 Ultra is one of the most in demand sneakers around and with good reason. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the style, Nike has recently refined and streamlined the sneaker with an updated airbag, a seamless lining, and overall reduced weight. Not only is this an impressively well-constructed piece of footwear, it’s now available in an array of new colourways for men and women. The men’s colourways are silver/red, black/platinum, brown/stucco, midnight navy/white, iced jade/black and black/black and the women’s colourways are silver/red, black/platinum, wolf grey/marina blue, rose gold/brown and brown/stucco. The Air Max 97 Ultra will arrive in stores and on Nike+ SNKRS on August 17 and the new colourways will be available from August 1.

03. Revenge x Storm Ian Connor Japan Pop Up

If you happen to be in Atlanta or Tokyo this week, you may have a rare chance to get your hands of a pair of the highly sought after Ian Connor modified Vans Old Skools. Earlier this week Ian teased the upcoming opening of a Revenge x Storm pop-up shop in Atlanta and now Tokyo is getting in on the action. Set to open this weekend, the sneakers will be available in yellow, black and flame-decorated colourways and are sure to sell out in a hot minute. While it’s still unclear when exactly the Atlanta pop-up will be debuting, The Revenge x Storm Tokyo pop-up will open this Saturday July 22 and Sunday July 23 at DOMICILE TOKYO in Shibuya.

04. Raf Simons x adidas Originals Stan Smith

Adidas Originals and Raf Simons have linked up for a bold new collaborative Stan Smith style that’s a departure from the more pared back Stan Smiths that Simons and Adidas have previously released. The perforated Rs have been replaced by textural fabric and the signature velcro straps are made out of a shiny leather. These features mean the shoe is eye-catching yet still refined and fashion-forward in the way that Raf is known for. You can cop a pair from select retailers worldwide and Farfetch.com.

05. Comme des Garcons x Nike Waffle Racer

Photos have surfaced on the internet this week of a Comme des Garcon x Nike Waffle Racer, and if the popularity of the Nike Vapormax x CDG is anything to go by this style is going to be highly in demand. Featuring an all-black upper, supportive foam midsole, leather heel tab, and white CDG splashed across the back, the style is sleek and innately stylish. Dover Street Market has not yet provided a release date for the collaborative sneaker but keep your eyes peeled for any upcoming details.

06. colette x Airwalk The One

Last week brought the news that infamous Parisian boutique colette would be closing its doors this December, and the boutique has now teamed up with Airwalk on what may be their final footwear collaboration. Airwalk has always been a pioneer in the skate community, and their style The One is one of the most recognisable skate shoes of the 90s. The collaborative sneaker is covered in black from outsole to upper and features colette’s iconic blue hue on the Airwalk logo, side panels, tongue, and on the signature colette logo which is embroidered onto the shoe. The One is available to purchase in both women’s and men’s sizes from colette’s online store.
