Footnotes is a weekly wrap-up of everything that’s happening in the world of sneakers. It’s your cheat sheet to the latest news like new drops, collabs, sales, store openings, and anything else related to what you put on your feet.

01. Nike x Off-White Vapormax

Virgil Abloh, architect-turned-designer, continues to reaffirm his position as a streetwear mastermind. As if Off-White needed any more hype their partnership with Nike is sure to turn heads. The collaboration in its entirety is set to release on September 1. With a rumoured ten different models being released, the six we’ve seen so far are already sending the sneaker world into a frenzy.

The Vapormax will no doubt be a grail piece, featuring an old school tongue, text on the side paying homage to Nike’s Beaverton Oregon HQ, and “AIR” lining the outside heal. Images of the inside out box design for the packaging will also add to the expected colossal resell price. Get the camp chairs ready for a week long line-up if you want to cop what will surely be a piece of streetwear history.

02. Yeezy Boost 350 V2 'Semi Frozen Yellow'

Kanye’s Yeezy Boost line continues to be a mainstay in the streetwear community. Now we have a confirmed sighting of the man himself rocking the new ‘Semi Frozen Yellow colourway while in China. This new iteration of the now modern classic silhouette is scheduled to drop sometime before the end of this year-leaving adequate time to save mum’s weekly allowance. Whilst the images themselves are only a few levels above Casio watch quality, it definitely gives us something to look forward to. Stay tuned for official release dates and stockists.

03. Undefeated x Nike Air Max 97

Los Angeles based label and streetwear store Undefeated has teamed up with Nike to put their own spin on the classic Air Max 97. Whilst we’ve seen a rebirth of the 97 in celebration of its 20-year anniversary, with its presence a constant in many general sneaker retailers, this new edition is a breath of fresh air. The design brings some subtle Gucci vibes to the table featuring an all black colourway with red and forest green accents running the side panel waves. The red stripe also includes the UNDEFEATED text in white peppered the entire length of the shoe. Although these are only rumours for the moment, its hard to see why this wouldn’t come to fruition. Definitely one to look out for over the course of the upcoming months.

04. Adidas EQT cushion ADV

Adidas have finally stopped teasing and officially revealed their latest member of the EQT family. Inspired by its forefather the EQT cushion from 91’, this edition looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. The EQT cushion ADV features a premium knit upper with nubuck quarter panels, signature EQT moulded details showing the 3-stripes mark, and reflective yarn. Its all topped off with a comfortable EVA outsole and duel density tooling. Releasing August 12 these will come in at $160(USD) and will feature three unique colourways: sub green, blue, and scarlet.

05. Rick Owens ends relationship with Adidas

This coming summer will mark the end of an era for the very popular collaborative efforts between Adidas and avant-garde designer Rick Owens. Owens has been a figure head when it comes to pushing the boundaries of modern fashion and his work with Adidas was no different. Over the course of the relationship the pieces were seen to brandish the feet of modern fashion icons like A$AP rocky and Jaden Smith.

While the exact nature of the split is unknown an Owenscorp representative stressed that both parties “continue to hold each other in the highest regard” and the collaboration had simply reached a “natural conclusion”. However, we can expect more in the realm of footwear to come from Owens as he is currently working on a Spring/Summer 18 collection with Hood Rubber. Nevertheless, a moment of silence for all of the minimalist urban warriors worldwide.
