G-Shock celebrate the 20th anniversary of the exclusive MR-G in Sydney

Complete with samurai sword performance and fine dining

G-Shock is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its exclusive MR-G watch range and you know that they could only acknowledge the milestone with a lush party. We were fortunate enough to be in attendance at the festivities in Sydney recently and the evening definitely did not disappoint.

The specially invited guests were treated to a lavish dinner at Sydney’s distinguished Tetsuya’s restaurant and a sneak preview at the watch brand’s newest, and possibly most impressive, addition to the G-Shock family. The new Mr-G features all the specs you would expect from the performance-ready label but is elevated by ultra-premium materials and sleek styling.

Further insight to the brand was provided by none other than G-Shock inventor Kikuo Ibe, as well as Australian reps and local ambassadors rugby union player Kurtley Beale, and blogger Nathan McCallum. The evening culminated in a showcase of both the physical quality of the new watch and the brand’s Japanese heritage, as a world-class swordsman proceeded to slice the new model from an actual block of ice. Don’t believe us? Check it out in the video above.
