Haw previewed Diaz’s upcoming SS13 collection a few weeks ago, here we get a bts look at the label’s current AW12 collection, Misteria, from Diaz leading lady, Ana.

My name is… Ana Diaz, head honcho at Diaz.

I live in… Mount Coolum, Queensland.

Our new collection is called… Misteria.

Some of the things that inspired it are… Giallo films, an Italian B-grade horror genre from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Super gory, vivid, melodramatic scenes with saturated purples, pinks, yellows and blues, mixed with ‘70s silhouettes and styling, and a sportswear edge.

The person I can imagine wearing the collection is… your mum in the ‘70s.

While designing the collection, we listened to a lot of… I have a whole playlist for the collection which was designed exactly a year ago, with a lot of Frank Ocean, Oddisee, Blu and Erykah. One song that stands out is Odd Toddlers by Ace Creator… it uses a sample that sounds really typical of Giallo film scores and fits the mood of the collection really well.

My dream collaborator would be… Opening Ceremony.

If I wasn’t a designer, I’d… be a mathemagician!

I like the opposite sex to wear… simple style with confidence. It’s all about the attitude.

An item of clothing I can never throw out is… anything and everything. I’m a clothes and shoe hoarder.

A trend I’d like to die is… leggings as pants.

When I’m not working on the brand, I like to spend time… chilling with friends, sitting in the sun, and sleeping in a lot.

The next project I’m working on is… Autumn Winter 2013… lots of prints!
