20 years since the world was first blessed with Nike Air Max 97 ‘Silver Bullet’, a re-release and re-vamp for the classic shoe is underway.

Nike are known to love their own history so it’s no surprise that one of their most iconic shoes is making another comeback (the last was back in 2012) but what has come as a bit of a shock to sneakerheads is just how hard it might be to score a pair.

The ‘Silver Bullet’ will be sold exclusively in Italy from October 5. 20 years ago these Air Maxs were massively popular in Italy so as a thank you to the country for its support, these bad boys are complete with pull tabs in green, white, and red. Forza Italia.

The slick silver colourway was inspired by the Japanese bullet train and designed by Christian Tresser who introduced the hidden lace design and full length airbag sole unit on the Air Max 97s. The air unit was an innovation in sneaker design, pioneering a new level of comfort.

Check them out in the gallery above or jump on the next flight to Milan to (try) and cop IRL.
