If there’s one thing we know about Kanye West it’s that no matter what he’s pushing, or how crazy he looks while doing it, he talks a lot and loudly and he sure as hell makes sure we know all about it. You might say that he is, in fact, an influencer. Like, he actually convinces people to physically follow his lead, like some leather clad, aggressively passionate Pied Piper. Most recently (and infamously) Yeezy has been pushing his fashion agenda hard. I mean, the dude Jedi mind-tricked Anna Wintour into putting his wife on the cover of his magazine. In his own words, “I am the nucleus.” And as ridiculous as some of his words/actions/outfit choices have been, he’s kind of right, on that one.
As explored by the diligent types over at Refinery29, Kanye has made a very big and very real impression on the fashion industry, from downtown ‘fuccboi’ fashion, to High Street runway collections (was he right about those leather jogging pants?) to international sporting congolomerates and, of course, the aesthetics of his leading lady of the day. I’m sure most people are guilty of wearing those goddamn shuttershades, even if they did cost $2 and ended up crushed under a mosh pit at some dance music festival. Yeezy taught you well, Yeezy taught you well.
