There’s something intriguing about old vintage cameras that seems to have a lot of people hooked. In the recent years we’ve witnessed the rebirth of the famous Polaroid camera, albeit a more compact modern-looking version. Don’t get me wrong, it’ sa fantastic little camera, but there really is something special about the originals. Whether it’s in the materials used, from the silver casing that clashes against those black hand grips, or the way the lens pops out in all sorts or weird ways, or maybe it’s just the aesthetic created by old expired film. There’s nothing like that grainy, slightly over- (or under) exposed, unexpected light leaked little slip of film that results.

If you’re one of those people that has fallen in love with the unexpected outcomes that are produced by these old school vintage cameras, then we know exactly what you should be doing this weekend. Bloom Publishing and Hillvale are teaming up for the third year in a row, to bring to you FOCUS. It’s the camera and zine fair that will take all you camera lovers to next level heaven.

Held this Sunday, at the Abbotsford Convent Community & Linen Rooms, the fair brings together “some of the best camera hoarders and printed matter enthusiasts Australia has to offer”. The best part is, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to buy some second hand equipment for yourself (and we all know how hard it is to hunt some of these cameras down).

For only a gold coin entry, you better pencil it in your diary and get in early before all the good ones sell out. Check their event here or find out more details on their website.
