For those of you unfamiliar with Mark Kozelek a.k.a Sun Kil Moon, he’s a talented purveyor of folk-rock who in 2014 has made a habit of calling people hillbillies and telling respected artists to “suck his dick”. This trend began when he berated a North-Carolina crowd, who were too loud for his liking, calling them “fucking hillbillies”. His next target was indie-rock band The War on Drugs, whom he shared a set time with at the Ottowa Folk Festival. Kozelek, unhappy with the fact that he could hear the band from his stage unleashed a barrage of insults, even joking about playing a song titled “The War on Drugs can suck my fucking dick”.

A few diss tracks later Kozelek ran into El-P backstage at Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. According to El-P, the exchange went a little something like this:

EL-P “Hey, I’m a fan. We’re the guys that are going to be interrupting your set today with how fucking loud our crowd is”.

Sun Kil Moon: “What’s your name?”

El-P: “Run The Jewels”

Sun Kil Moon: “Suck my dick, Run The Jewels”

El-P: “Suck my dick, Sun Kil Moon”

When it came time for both artists to take the stage, Run The Jewels paused mid-set for El-P to tell the crowd exactly what went down. Unsurprisingly, upon request, the duo’s legions of fans were more than happy to join El-P in chanting “Suck my dick, Sun Kil Moon”. It’s still unclear how Kozelek will respond to the diss and it doesn’t really matter at this point: he’s already cemented himself as the type of guy who complains when his neighbours throw a party.
