Held at The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, Massachusetts is talented graffiti artist and cult figure Barry McGee‘s exhibition “Drawing in the Street”. The exhibition is a mid-career survey of his work thur far, from the mid ’90s to now. It features more than 30 of his works that includes rarely-seen pieces of work on paper, reconstructed works from previous installations, video pieces and a huge cluster of 3D works that consists of drawings, paintings and photographs.

Born in San Francisco, McGee was trained in painting and printmaking, but broke out of the confines of art museums and galleries in the ’80s with his graffiti works that sprawled across the city and made the city “a living space for art and activism”. Considered “one of the most important contributors to the powerful and varied body of work that has emerged out of street culture,” he has influenced a generation of artists.

Drawing in the Street will run from April 6th – September 12th 2013.
