American police brutality videos seem to be surfacing on the internet every day, with each video creating a new sense of anger towards the forceful tactics that some US police officers use. But today an incredibly hilarious video has been uploaded of a policewoman dispersing a crowd through a dance battle.

Although the Washington police officer’s dance moves at times are pretty painful to watch, it’s a brilliant alternative to using excessive force. When police broke up a fight between teenagers, 17-year-old Aaliyah Taylor approached a female officer playing ‘Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)’, “Instead of us fighting, she tried to turn it around and make it something fun,” Ms Taylor said.

Barack Obama tweeted about the incident saying “Who knew community policing could involve the Nae Nae? Great example of police having fun while keeping us safe.” Mayor Muriel Bowser also praised the idea, posting on Facebook that “DC has innovative ways to keep our community #saferstronger”.
