You may remember news emerging a couple of months ago about the Counter-Strike Global Offensive event being held at Melbourne’s Crown Casino, boasting a massive prize pool of $55,000. Well, the event took place earlier this month and the scenes from it are pretty epic, with hundreds of people turning up to watch a bunch of dudes play the popular video game, vying for a chance at the big bucks. Teams from all over the world descended upon our city to participate in the invitational, with Australian crew Team Immunity and European team Virtus.Pro battling it out for first prize—a cool $35,000.

While this might seem ridiculous to some, e-sports is serious business, regularly offering monetary prizes in the thousands, and playing to packed venues (not to mention all the viewers URL). Want to see how things ended? You can check out the footage from this year’s event here.
