If the online rumours are true, it looks like Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine are about to come in to some money. The internet has been blowing up with chatter about Apple’s alleged interest in acquiring Beats Electronics for a tidy sum of $3.2 billion. First reported by The Financial Times, insiders (read: snitches?) revealed the two corporations were pretty close to maybe/maybe not signing the audio company over to Apple.

Among the sketchy details, it’s been alleged that Apple would obviously acquire Beats’ physical audio products catalogue as well as their subscription-based music streaming service, which Iovine had previously fronted the late Steve Jobs about prior to launching Beats Music and iTunes Radio respectively. And this could all be signed off as early as next week. Or not – the source also says it could very well dissolve by next week too.

If this all does go ahead, it’ll be uncharacteristically progressive of Apple, who has never been so keen to acquire other companies until recently and has never spent more than a measly $1 billion on anyone. AND Beats has only been valued at $1 billion anyway. You hear that Dre? They must really, really like you. Though I would be curious to know, WWSJD?

Stay iTuned (sorry) for more news, as an official statement confirming either outcome must be just around the corner.
