This week’s Sound Guide was put together by a true OG and pioneer in Australia’s hip-hop landscape, Hau Latukefu. From his days as half of the seminal duo Koolism to his legendary 14-year run as the host of triple j’s Hip Hop Show — Hau’s influence in nurturing an authentic identity across hip-hop down under is reflected in his work mentoring artists like One Four and through his label Forever Ever which is home to acts like Hoodzy, Becca Hatch and more. For his Sound Guide, Hau throws back to the influential sounds of late 80s / early 90s New York hip-hop artists like Nas and De La Soul mixed in with pioneering Pasifika artists like Boo-Yah T.R.I.B.E and Che Fu, and rounded out by a Jungle essential from UK Apache and SHY FX – no skips!
