With their last official release in 2010, it’s understandable that dedicated fans of Brooklynites Mike Stroud and Evan Mast, who make up electronic rock duo Ratatat, might fret that the artists they’ve followed with cult-like fervour are done with making further projects. While their devotees grew resigned to the fact that they may never see another album from the two again, Stroud and Mast finally quelled fears by performing a new song, ‘Cream On Chrome’, at their 2015 Coachella set. That song would turn out to be the first effort from their brilliant new album Magnifique. This time, their reliable formula has been further refined, and with a refreshed energy, the album boasts some of their most focused and meticulous work yet.
