This week’s Sound Guide was put together by proud Yorta Yorta, Djadja Wurrung, Kalkadoon and Yirendali sovereign woman, Miss Kaninna. With just two singles out in the world, Miss Kaninna has fast established herself as one of the most talked-about new artists in 2023. From high-octane sets at Dark Mofo, SXSW Sydney and The Great Escape to co-signs from rappers like Barkaa, Jesswar, Nooky and Briggs, Miss Kaninna’s undeniable presence has been felt on national airwaves where she currently stands in as resident host of triple j’s Hip Hop Show, platforming music from Black and POC women, femmes and non-binary people.
