Queens rapper Action Bronson has taken to Twitter to blast the Canadian festival NXNE for axing him from the line-up of an upcoming show.

The cut reportedly comes from heavy backlash off lyrics from his 2011 track ‘Consensual Rape’. Someone named Erica Shiner took umbrage to some of Bam Bam’s lyricism and circulated the change.org petition to boycott the rapper, gaining over 3000 supporters in less than 2 days. It certainly isn’t the first time this track has landed Bronson in hot water, but a really pissed Toronto woman is trying to make damn sure it won’t be the last.

“Action bronson glorifies gang-raping and murdering women. It is an insult to the people of Toronto for NXNE, Now Magazine, Vans Footwear, and the City of Toronto to be featuring an artist on public property whose lyrics are as follows,” the petition reads before listing the song lyrics.

“Then dig your shorty out cuz I geeked her up on molly
Have her eating dick, no need for seasoning
If seven dudes are in the room then she’s pleasing them
Like a trooper. Hit her in the pooper. Throw her in the shower
Then I take her out to Lupa I’m kinky, I’ll hit it even if it’s stinky
Put em in the shower, make the pussy brand new Ran through.
Give ‘em money what I can’t do Stuff her lunchbox & burn her with the candle”

NXNE, who initially defended the Mr. Wonderful rapper in a statement that read “artists have the right to express their views”, have appeared to have buckled according to recent tweets by Bronson. While it’s a win for those trying to raise awareness of casual sexism in the entertainment industry, it does dredge up the ancient debate of artistic liberties all over again.
