Santiago Leyva exploded onto the scene in 2009 with his debut album Boy Meets World. Straigh outta Fresno, Santiago, better known as Fashawn’s debut captured the imagination of hip-hop heads the world over with his frank depiction of growing up in the tough area, his masterful lyricism and the dope, Exile-produced beats.

In 2014 he signed to Nas’ label Mass Appeal Records and while he remained busy with mixtapes and guest features, his long-awaited sophomore album, The Ecology, only dropped last week, five years after his first record.

To coincide with the drop, Mass Appeal Records, director Punit Dhesi and Fashawn’s friends and family have released The Ecology Documentary, which gives a frank and engaging glimpse into the artists beginnings, his transformation from Santiago to Fashawn and the environment and influences in Fresno that influenced the MC.
