S|2, Sotheby’s Contemporary art gallery in New York, teamed up with Drake in May to pair modern music with the works of contemporary black American artists. Drizzy curated a list of songs, matching each to a different piece of artwork in the exhibition, with a playlist that includes tracks from Kendrick Lamar, Kanye WestA$AP Rocky, Young ThugChief Keef and Skepta.

Entitled “I Like It Like This”, the exhibition features pieces from the past 70 years by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Rashid Johnson, and Kara Walker, among many others. Beats By Dre headphones are stationed at each piece, so that visitors to the gallery can admire the artwork’s synergy with Drake’s selected tracks.

In the video above, Drake discusses his role in putting together the exhibit, explaining his goal was to link the world of art and music for youth, and “try and not make both worlds seem so distant”. If you’re reading this, it’s not too late; very lucky people that happen to be in NYC for the next couple of days can see the exhibit themselves until it closes on the 12th. Otherwise, check out some further info and see the pieces on display here.
