PAM Joins Forces With MEZ for New Capsule Collection

The Melbourne-raised, LA artist brings a 'dark joy' to the new collection from Perks and Mini.

Melbourne-born cult label PAM (Perks And Mini) has joined forces with Bagdhad-born, Melbourne-raised, LA-based artist MEZ to unveil a captivating collaboration that fuses fashion with cutting-edge technology. The partnership has resulted in a deepfake short film, set to launch a dynamic capsule featuring both women’s and unisex items for the upcoming SS24 collection, “GATEWAY.”

With a longstanding admiration for MEZ’s work, PAM reached out last year, inviting the artist to contribute her unique designs to the collection. The synergy between the collaborators sparked such a vivid visual narrative that the pieces transcended their material form. To encapsulate the collaboration’s essence, artist and photographer Byron Spencer was enlisted to create a short film and a series of images. The film features a shadowy figure wandering through the desolate tunnels of a city, engrossed in photos of MEZ on their phone. In a twist, the figure is revealed to be a deepfake of MEZ herself, accompanied by an original score and a haunting guided meditation.

The collection showcases MEZ’s designs through various techniques, including print, embroidery, and flocked mesh, across a range of items. Highlights include a reversible cropped bomber jacket, a mesh top and maxi dress, a hooded sweatshirt, and a bleach-washed tee, all adorned with skeletal wings, tribal logos, and gothic motifs such as “Psy Demon” and “Psy Active Mutation.” Additionally, MEZ’s designs are intricately etched into Italian-made stacked leather heels, a collaborative effort with PAM X Simona Vanth.

The PAM X MEZ capsule collection will debut on March 22nd (9AM AUS / 3 PM LA).
Fans can shop the collection online at perksandmini.com, at PAM Stores in Melbourne and Sydney, and through select stockists worldwide.
