It wouldn’t be Coachella without the unexpected guest performances and controversy that follows. Last weekend, Drake brought out Madonna and the result of that is something you’ll never be able to unsee. However, OVOXO affiliate The Weeknd went one better during his closing set on day 2 of the festival, inviting Kanye West to join him onstage for what is sure to be one of the highlights of this years tour run. After performing a vocal rendition of the 808’s and Heartbreaks single ‘Heartless’, West emerged on stage for an impromptu set, launching straight into ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’. Taking the passenger seat for a minute, The Weeknd watched on as Ye trawled through his back catalogue of hits including ‘Black Skinhead’, Chief Keef’s ‘Don’t Like (Remix)’ and the So Help Me God cut ‘All Day’. It’s a shame Ye didn’t join Tyler the Creator on stage to perform his latest single ‘Smuckers’, that would’ve been so tight.
But it seems the party wasn’t over just yet for Ye who then reportedly dropped by the Bromance Records label party with Vic Mensa and other G.O.O.D Music affiliates, launching the crowd into a frenzy after taking to the stage during Virgil Abloh’s DJ set to perform ‘All Day’.
